Professional Bio
Crystal has been a social worker since 2010, when she began working as a medical social worker in the inpatient setting. She worked in hospitals in Texas as well as California, with experience in the Intensive Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, Emergency Room, and General Medical/Surgical units.
She attended California State University Long Beach in 2011, where she completed her Master of Social Work in one year, with Graduate Honors in the Advanced Standing Program. She completed her thesis, titled “Dying in America: A Historical Analysis of Physician-Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia.” in 2012.
Crystal also worked with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as a Community Manager for the Inland Empire, before opting to stay at home with her children due to the dystopic nature of the lack of support for working mothers and affordable and reliable childcare.
Crystal spent 2014-2019 as a whole-home manager, focusing on the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of her children. This experience is inextricable from her clinical practice. She she reentered the workforce to collect her clinical LCSW hours in October of 2019, she spent 5 months providing in-person, individual care to primarily queer folks and those with religious trauma before transitioning to primarily telehealth after COVID-19 lockdown.
After passing the LCSW exam in California in 2022, Crystal established Get Psyched Therapy & Coaching, which focuses on providing care to queer people, late-diagnosed or suspected ADHD or Autism, as well as those with religious trauma.
About Crystal
My experience as a parent is inextricable from my clinical practice, because it informed my own journey as well as my clinical approach. I was diagnosed with ADHD in 2021, at the age of 34, and was diagnosed with Autism a year later, at 35. I sought these diagnoses after having YEARS of therapy for anxiety and depression, and the cognitive load and emotional demand of me as a parent, partner and person during COVID-19 lockdown was finally where my brain could not compensate any longer. It sent me on a journey that still continues today—constantly learning more about how to accommodate myself and my brain.
If you’ve found me, you’ve probably been struggling with life in general.
You can’t figure out why things that used to be easy feel damn near impossible, and you have a constant inner monologue running, berating yourself for not being able to perform the way you want to. The way you used to.
I’m an AuDHD therapist to suspected or late-diagnosed people because it connected so. many. things. for myself as well as those around me. I know what it’s like to not understand why you do the things you do, or to feel misunderstood despite SO MUCH EXPLAINING.
Through both group work and individual clinical assessments, I’ve helped many individuals just like you develop deep self compassion and love for themselves; all without changing a single thing about the way they’re wired.
Clinical Approach
Internal Family Systems
I use this framework to help neurodivergent adults connect with parts of themselves they’ve long since silenced or ignored, in order to function. This modality helps me to assist clients in understanding their motivations and intentions while also utilizing mindfulness in a way that won’t overwhelm them.
